Mission We enrich lives through learning by providing exceptional programs in a stimulating environment with superior service. Core Business The core business of the Georgia Center is to provide outstanding educational programs and services, connecting the University with lifelong learners throughout the world. The Center designs, develops and delivers a variety of educational programs to meet the learning needs of a diverse population. The Center offers a dynamic learning environment an ideal on-campus location for classes, conferences or special events. Conferences, seminars, institutes and workshops Professional and personal development classroom, online, and certificate programs Customized training your choice of format and location College credit courses through University System of Georgia Independent and Distance Learning and eCore (Georgia's College Core Curriculum Online) Service and Outreach programs International continuing education History The Center opened in 1957 with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (through a 1953 grant) and the State of Georgia, and was the second of the "Kellogg Centers," the first opening at Michigan State University in 1951. Today, there are 13 such centers, ten in the U.S., and one each in Costa Rica, Great Britain, and Honduras. In 1984, the Foundation awarded UGA a second grant, part of which was earmarked for programs at the Georgia Center. The grant was matched by the State of Georgia to renovate and expand the Center. Educational Programs As the continuing education arm of The University of Georgia's teaching, research, and service components, the Georgia Center fulfills its mission through award-winning credit and non-credit programs and courses. Faculty members from across the UGA campus participate actively in the program development process. The Georgia Center's team of event planners and instructional designers creates customized conferences, meetings, special events, and online courses that improve lives through learning.
