This course will review recent published and unpublished Southeastern research on forestry BMP effectiveness, as well as current BMP issues of concern to regulators, environmentalists, and those in the wood products industry. Georgia's new floodplain BMPs will be explained in detail. The rationale and options for new ephemeral area and gully BMPs will be explored.

Participants will learn how and why BMPs are revised. Forest business owners, timberland investors, and realtors involved in and interested in the buying and selling of forest products. Finally, the instructor will present the "Top 10" BMP issues facing the wood products industry in the Southeast.

Dr. C. Rhett Jackson is an associate professor of hydrology at the University of Georgia Daniel B. Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. Rhett specializes in the effects of land management on water resources and is an expert on the effectiveness of Silvicultural Best Management Practices.

The fee for this course is $225, which includes lunch, refreshment breaks, and instructional materials. There is a $30 discount for fees paid by check or credit card and postmarked by October 23, 2006. Preregistration must be accompanied by check, purchase order, or credit card number to guarantee a place in each course. Limited seating is available. Transfer Fee: The Georgia Center will charge a $50 processing fee for a second course transfer, if applicable.
