Efficient Inventories and Cruising for Weights addresses three primary concerns: (1) Getting the most information possible out of a cruise, (2) Designing efficient cruises to obtain the information necessary for decision-making (the same level of information with less time and expense), and (3) Estimating weight by product directly rather than converting from volume.

- Foresters who must inventory stands and work up cruises in both volume and weight
- Foresters who conduct management and/or procurement inventories
- Foresters and realtors who need to become more efficient in determining forest inventory in less time and at less cost
- Foresters who need to become more familiar with point sampling methods and calculations

As a result of taking ithis course, foresters will have a better understanding of how to inventory stands and work up cruises by volume and weight, conduct management and/or procurement inventories, and have more familiarity with point sampling methods and calculations. Realtors will gain an understanding of these practices plus, as will foresters, become more efficient in determining inventory in less time and cost.

This course is being held at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel, located on the beautiful University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia.

Barry Shiver and Bruce Borders have been teaching continuing education short courses across the South since 1989. They began teaching inventory short courses that same year. Barry recently retired from the University of Georgia Daniel B. Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, where he was a professor and taught classes in timber management, inventory, silviculture, and mensuration. Bruce is a professor at the Warnell School, where he teaches courses in timber management, inventory, and biometrics. The two instructors are the authors of the widely used college textbook, Sampling Techniques for Forest Resource Inventory, published in 1996 by John Wiley & Sons. Courses taught by these instructors are popular, as they deliver technical content in an understandable and enthusiastic manner.

The fee for this course is $445, which includes lunch, refreshment breaks, and instructional materials. There is a $50 discount for fees paid by check or credit card and postmarked by January 30, 2007. Preregistration must be accompanied by check, purchase order, or credit card number to guarantee a place in the course. Limited seating is available. Transfer Fee: The Georgia Center will charge a $50 processing fee for a second course transfer, if applicable.
