Native American and Indigenous Studies Conference website The Institute of Native American Studies at University of Georgia is hosting the Native American and Indigenous Studies international scholarly meeting in April, 2008. This is the second of three meetings that a steering committee of scholars from across the continent has planned as a way to explore the possibility of creating an academic association for scholars who work in American Indian/Native American/First Nations/Aboriginal/Indigenous Studies. The Native American Studies program at the University of Oklahoma, Norman hosted the first meeting in May of 2007, and the American Indian Studies Department at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (2009) has agreed to host the third meeting in 2009. These three events hopefully will give the proposed association its best chance of becoming a reality. INAS at UGA is happy to be hosting the second of these meetings. A host committee of faculty and staff members has been working since spring 2006 on arranging accommodations, meeting space, and a set of events that it hopes will give conference participants a flavor of UGA and Athens, GA.
