Emergency Neurology — Case Assessment and Management

About the Course

Purpose
This course will provide referring general practitioners with a broad and practical overview of the many emergency neurology situations dealt with on a day-to-day basis. Logical steps on how to assess the emergency neurology patient with a view to determination of the lesion location and severity will be addressed throughout the weekend course. In-house management of these cases will also be practically discussed. Many neurology patients may require referral for invasive diagnostic testing and treatment, but there are many times that this is neither necessary nor possible. Dealing with these situations will be an important focus of the course. The course will start with the basics of emergency case assessment and management, including the neurological examination, fluid therapy, and pain therapy. Specific neurological emergencies such as status epilepticus, vestibular disease, and spinal trauma will then be dealt with on a specific basis.

Continuing Education Credits
This course will provide 12.0 Continuing Education contact hours through the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. Full attendance is required to receive total CE credits.

Registration Fee
The fee for the course is $260, paid on or before April 8, 2008, and $285 thereafter. This fee includes continental breakfasts, lunches, refreshment breaks, and instructional materials. Our policy of first-come, first-served makes preregistration essential.
