Exam Overview

Exams in eCore classes work differently than exams in traditional, on-campus classes, because they require you to plan and schedule appointments at a testing center. Read and use the information on this page to ensure that, when exam time rolls around, you can concentrate on doing your best work without the distractions of late fees and delays in grading.

In order to measure learning outcomes in an objective, verifiable way, your instructor will require you to take one or more exams at an authorized testing center, where you will be asked to present a photo ID. You are responsible for scheduling these exams, notifying the eCore Testing Coordinator in advance about where and when exams are scheduled, and taking the exams under the conditions provided by the testing center. Failure to take a proctored examination will result in failure for the course, regardless of average of other grades.

Your instructor will provide exam dates in your online course syllabus. Three weeks prior to each exam (15 normal business days), you must submit an Exam Request Form to notify the eCore Testing Coordinator where and when you have scheduled an appointment to take your exam. This allows the Testing Coordinator to deliver your exam materials to the testing center so that they will be available on the date you have scheduled.

Please read the Proctored Examination Instructions and review the partial list of approved test sites below. If you do not see a test site that is convenient for you, contact the Testing Coordinator for additional test sites in your area. While it is your responsibility to contact the test site directly to schedule your exams, the Testing Coordinator can help with this process.

Late Fees

If you do not submit your Exam Request Form by midnight on the due date, you will be charged a $15 late fee to cover the costs of special handling and shipping for your exam materials. Late exam requests can result in delays in receiving your grades. Submitting a late fee online is easy with our secure late fee submission form.

Exam Scheduling Checklist

1. Check your course syllabus or consult your instructor to determine the exam dates for your course. Some courses require more than one proctored exam.
2. Read the
Proctored Examination Instructions and select a test site that is conveniently located for you.
3. Call or visit that test site and schedule an appointment to take your exam on one of the exam dates listed on your syllabus.
4. Complete and submit the Exam Request Form no later than 15 normal business days prior to the date on which your exam is scheduled.
5. Contact the Testing Coordinator (testing.coordinator@georgiacenter.uga.edu or 1-866-248-5179) if you have questions or need help with any aspect of the proctored exam process.

Study hard, and good luck!

Proctored Exam Instructions

What Is a Proctored Examination?
Students enrolled in eCore courses take at least one proctored examination per course at an approved testing center. In response to your Exam Request Form, the eCore Testing Coordinator sends all exam materials directly to the testing center. A staff member at the testing center, also known as a proctor, will check your identification and administer the exam according to the directions provided by your instructor. At the end of the exam period, the proctor will collect and return the exam to your instructor for grading. Most testing centers charge a fee for proctoring services. You should be prepared to pay these fees on the exam date.

Who Is Responsible For Scheduling a Proctored Exam?
You are responsible for scheduling and completing your exams by the deadlines shown in your course syllabus or calendar. If you are unsure, ask your instructor for these dates. Then schedule an exam time at a testing center. To avoid late fees, make arrangements with a testing center as soon as you know the dates of your exams. After you have made an appointment submit the
Exam Request Form so that materials can be mailed to the testing center. Your exam request must be submitted three weeks (15 normal business days) before the date of your exam appointment to avoid late fees and grading delays.

What If I Have a Disability?
Students with disabilities or who require special testing accommodations should contact the Testing Coordinator before scheduling an exam appointment. In order to receive special accommodations, students must provide documentation from the disabilities center at their affiliate institution or from the Regents Center for Learning Disorders. For additional information, see the Disability Services page.

How Do I Find a Testing Center?
In most cases, the easiest place to take a proctored examination is at an official college, university, or military base testing center. A partial list of Georgia testing centers is provided below. If you live in or near Georgia, you may contact any of these testing centers to arrange an appointment to take your proctored examination. If you are unable to identify an appropriate testing center near you, please contact the Testing Coordinator immediately for assistance.

When contacting a testing center, remember to ask for its hours of operation; you want to be certain you will have enough time to take your exam prior to the testing center's closing time. Ask for directions or a map to the location, and find out whether a fee will be charged (you should be prepared to pay this fee when you report to the testing center).

If you must change the date or location of a previously scheduled exam, please contact the Testing Coordinator immediately

How Do I Notify the Testing Coordinator About My Exam Appointment?
Complete and submit the Exam Request Form, which is available in online and faxable formats, at least three weeks (15 normal business days) prior to your exam appointment.

What Should I Do On The Day Of The Exam?
If you have childcare needs, please arrange appropriate childcare in advance. Children are typically not allowed in testing centers.

Gather all the materials you will need to take the exam. Instructions regarding what you may bring to the exam will be posted in your course. You may only bring items specified by your instructor. Please do not bring food or drinks to the testing center.

Bring a photo identification card and your Social Security number to the testing center. You will not be allowed to take your exam without first presenting a valid photo ID to the proctor.

Most testing centers charge a fee for proctoring services. If your testing center charges a fee, be sure to bring payment with you.

If you are unable to make the scheduled testing appointment, please notify both the testing center and the eCore Testing Coordinator as soon as possible.

What Happens After The Exam?
Once you have completed your exam, the proctor will collect it and forward it directly to your instructor, who will provide you with your exam grade. You will receive a report of your final course grade from your affiliate institution.
