- "Carl Sanders: A Great Georgian"
- Carl Sanders, Georgia governor from 1963 to 1967, is the first subject of the revived Great Georgians video series, which profiles the lives and careers of great contemporary men and women of the State of Georgia. The Georgia Center series was initially produced in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
- Walter Barnard Hill Distinguished Lecture Series
- Myles Brand, president of Indiana University, delivered the third annual Walter Barnard Hill Distinguished Lecture in October. The lecture series, held at the Georgia Center and sponsored by The University of Georgia Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach, honors Walter Barnard Hill, University chancellor 1899-1905.
- The Georgia Center's "40th"
- The Georgia Center commemorated its "40th" anniversary with a September conference for the field of adult and continuing education, welcoming special guest Harlan Cleveland, dean emeritus of the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs of the University of Minnesota and president of The World Academy of Art and Science.
- "I've Been Thinking..."
- Edward G. Simpson, Jr., director of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education and associate vice president for service and outreach at The University of Georgia, on the future of the Georgia Center.
- "The Year in Review"
- This "Annual Report" issue of the Georgia Center Quarterly reviews the highlights and accomplishments of the Georgia Center's divisions and departments for the fiscal year 1996-1997. Also included is a rundown of special staff and faculty achievements for the year. On the cover and presented with the report are photos of the Center's "official" blueprints, designed by the architectural firm of Stevens and Wilkinson of Atlanta, Georgia, who drew the Center's original plans in the 1950s, and the plans for the Center's expansion in the 1980s.
