Martin Luther King, Jr. Week 1996
"GospelFest" Performances

The vocal groups, the Shiloh Baptist Church Gospel Choir, left, of Athens, Georgia, and the Gospelettes, below, of Athens, Georgia, perform as part of the "GospelFest" program held January 16, 1996, at the Georgia Center's Thomas W. Mahler Auditorium. Also performing during the evening were the Athens Voices of Truth, the Ebenezer West Church Choir, the Voices of Praise Singers, and the New Birth Singers.

"GospelFest" was part of Martin Luther King, Jr. Week 1996 at The University of Georgia, which featured a variety of activities, lectures, radio programs, an art exhibit, a youth symposium, and a tour of selected Georgia historical sites. UGA's week of celebration, with the theme "A Stone of Hope from a Mountain of Despair," also commemorated the 10th anniversary of the national holiday in honor of King.
