Masters Hall Players

The Masters Hall Players

The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education has formed a new resident theater company as part of the Center's performing arts program. The Masters Hall Players will be featured in the 1995 Winter Theater Series of Special Events.

Following auditions last spring, artistic director Jerry L. Hargis (who serves as associate director for communication services at the Georgia Center), announced the ensemble will consist of Speedy Arnold, Alicia Bickley, Catherine R. Clayton, Steven Elliott-Gower, Bryn Gaddy, Lisa Johnson, Katry Harris, Kathleen McManus, Erin Mengert, Sonja Pemberton, Don Reagin, Suzanne Reamy, Rick Rose, Allen Rowell, and Rex Totty.

Hargis says the members of the company possess a diversity of talent. "The group represents a wide range of acting skills and character types," he says. "They were selected for their versatility as well as their talent. We are excited to have such a good group in our original company. The program has enormous potential."

The Masters Hall Players company also consists of Roger Comley, executive producer; Martha Johnston, assistant director and stage manager; Henry Johnson, technical director coordinating set design, set construction, and lighting; Beverly Bourgeois, associate producer; and Mitch Skelton, associate producer. All of these individuals are regular members of the Georgia Center's performing arts program and serve in similar capacities for the Masters Hall Singers and other programs in Masters Hall Performances.

The First Season

The Masters Hall Players will bring three exciting romantic comedies to life during the Winter Theater Series in 1995. The first season will feature performances of "The Tender Trap," January 19-21, 1995; "Butterflies Are Free," February 16-18, 1995; and "Barefoot in the Park," March 16-18, 1995. Each of the shows is a familiar stage success; in addition, all three were produced as major motion pictures.

Each show will be performed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8:15 p.m. In addition, a matinee performance will be held on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. For more information, contact Jerry L.
