Walter Barnard Hill Distinguished Lecture Series

The University of Georgia inaugurated the Walter Barnard Hill Distinguished Lecture Series in October to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Walter Barnard Hill, University of Georgia chancellor from 1899 through 1905. The lecture series will feature outstanding guests from all fields and is sponsored by The University of Georgia Office of the Vice President for Services (Outreach). At right is a photograph of a portrait of Hill, painted by Louis Gregg in 1932, and donated to the University in 1933 by "Walter C. Hill and Friends" (Oil on canvas, The University of Georgia Portrait Collection).

Home Injury Prevention Project
A profile of a successful project designed to reduce the high numbers of injuries, largely preventable, incurred by older adults in and around their homes. The project included a number of efforts to reach out and help residents in two Georgia counties.
Harriette Austin Writers Conference
Former students of Harriette Austin, who teaches a writing class each quarter in the Georgia Center's Community Programs, honor their former teacher through a writers conference, which has drawn more that 250 participants in each of its first two years.
Searching for Trends and Issues
The Georgia Center's Environmental Scanning program celebrated its 10th anniversary this past fall. An interview about the program with Georgia Center Director Edward G. Simpson, Jr., and the coordinator for the program, Donna L. McGinty.
