Georgia Center Administrators Inducted into the
International Adult & Continuing Education Hall of Fame

Two University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education administrators were among the first class of inductees into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame October 29, 1996, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the annual meeting of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Higher Education (AAACHE). Among those honored in the Hall were Edward G. Simpson, Jr., UGA associate vice president for services (outreach) and director of the Georgia Center, and Grover J. Andrews, associate director of the Georgia Center's Division of Instructional Services.

The Hall, located at the University of Oklahoma Center for Continuing Education in Norman, Oklahoma, was chartered in 1995 as a nonprofit corporation, the purpose of which is "to honor and commemorate adult educators who have made lasting contributions to the lifelong learning movement.

Thurman White, 1996 founding member of the International Adult and Con-tinuing Education Hall of Fame, and vice president emeritus of the University of Oklahoma, said "The people honored here represent colleagues all over the world whose visions have lifted learners ahead of their time."

"It's a distinct honor to be so recognized and to be invited to join so many of the legends and leaders of my field in the Hall of Fame," Andrews said.

Simpson said, "My selection for the Hall of Fame is certainly one of the most significant professional honors I have ever received. It is particularly meaningful given the special privilege of being a member of the inaugural class and knowing that the group contained a number of dear friends."
