In
January 2002, University System of Georgia Independent Study (USGIS)
becomes University System of Georgia Independent and Distance Learning
(IDL). The name change reflects the ongoing evolution of the program,
in particular the expansion of course offerings and methods of delivery.
IDL
will continue to offer credit courses through six senior higher
education institutions of the University System of Georgia: Armstrong
Atlantic State University (Savannah), Georgia College and State
University (Milledgeville), Georgia Southern University (Statesboro),
North Georgia College and State University (Dahlonega), The University
of Georgia (Athens), and Valdosta State University (Valdosta).
