Accreditation
As a program of the University of Georgia, Independent and Distance Learning is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award college credit for distance learning courses. SACS is the recognized regional accrediting body in the eleven U.S. Southern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia) and in Latin America for those institutions of higher education that award associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degrees.
When you complete an Independent and Distance Learning course, the University of Georgia Office of the Registrar will record your grade and can provide documentation in the form of a transcript. Distance learning courses are not distinguished from the corresponding face-to-face courses on student transcripts, since they provide equivalent credit.
Instructions for requesting a copy of your University of Georgia transcript are available here.
