Withdrawal
Independent and Distance Learning students are permitted nine months (from the date of enrollment) to complete a course and take the final examination. On the date of enrollment, the student will be notified of the official midpoint of the nine months (four and a half months from the enrollment date). Students who withdraw from an Independent and Distance Learning course by this midpoint will be assigned a grade of "W," which will be recorded by the Registrar of the University of Georgia. Students who withdraw after this midpoint will be assigned a grade of "WF," which will be recorded by the Registrar of the University of Georgia.
In order to withdraw from an IDL course, you must submit your request in writing to the IDL office. You may either use the official withdrawal form located in your student packet or submit an informal statement in writing requesting withdrawal including your printed name, social security number, course prefix and your signature. Your withdrawal request may be faxed (706-542-6635 fax), mailed or hand-delivered to the IDL office, and your withdrawal date will be based on the date the request is received.
