"I signed up for an IDL course last year so that I could complete my necessary course load more quickly than in a traditional class setting. By taking an IDL course, and finishing the lessons at my own pace, I was able to complete half of the Appalachian Trail this summer, a goal that would have been difficult to meet if I had to be in classes until May. Thank you, IDL!"
- The University of Georgia's department of Independent and Distance Learning program has offered UGA courses in distance learning formats for more than sixty years. Originally a correspondence study program, IDL now offers web-based courses in an independent study format (each student works one-on-one with the instructor).
- IDL courses are UGA credit courses, taught by UGA faculty. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions Equivalency Tables may be useful in determining course equivalency with those at your institution.
- The UGA Office of Financial Aid offers aid only to currently enrolled UGA students, although the courses may qualify for aid at the student's home institution.
- You can use this inquiry form to direct questions to IDL's distance education academic advisor.
