The mission of Independent and Distance Learning (IDL) is to widen access to higher education by helping learners overcome the barriers of location and scheduling.
IDL students include
- Students currently pursuing undergraduate degrees at the University of Georgia and at other institutions
- Professionals who need college credits but who can't attend traditional campus classes
- K-12 teachers fulfilling certification requirements
- Military personnel
- High school students, age 16 or older, if jointly enrolled at a college or university
Existing UGA Students
If you are currently admitted to the University of Georgia, you can register online at any time and begin your course work within days.
Non-UGA Enrolled Students
If you are a student doing degree work at another institution or if you are interested in taking IDL courses to continue your education, you can apply via the University of Georgia Admissions web site. Please contact IDL if you'd like assistance with the admissions process. After being admitted, you can enroll in your course and get started immediately.
