Independent and Distance Learning students must present their certificates of registration and receipts as proof of eligibility to access the following University of Georgia resources and student services:
The University of Georgia Libraries
Students enrolled in Independent and Distance Learning courses may obtain access to University of Georgia libraries, including GALILEO, the statewide automated library system. A Library Borrower's Card may be requested upon presentation of an Independent and Distance Learning certificate of registration and a photo ID at the Circulation Office in the Main Library, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Selected Independent and Distance Learning textbooks, videotapes, and audiotapes are on reserve at the University of Georgia Main Library. To gain access to the material on reserve, Independent and Distance Learning students must present their Independent and Distance Learning Certificate of Registration along with a photo ID or their University of Georgia Library Borrower's Card along with a photo ID. Items on reserve circulate under limited loan periods and fines on overdue reserve items accrue by the hour. The Reserve Desk is located on the first floor of the Main Library.
Interlibrary Loan
Independent and Distance Learning students are eligible for the same library borrowing privileges as regularly enrolled University of Georgia students. In order to obtain material owned by the University of Georgia Libraries, Independent and Distance Learning students may either retrieve the material from the University of Georgia Libraries in person or contact their local libraries to have the material sent to their locations through the interlibrary loan process.
In addition, Independent and Distance Learning students may contact the University of Georgia Interlibrary Loan Office to obtain material if University of Georgia Libraries does not already own the material. Books can usually be borrowed at no cost; a complete citation including the author, title, and place and date of publication is needed by the Interlibrary Loan Office. Articles are usually photocopied and supplied for a fee. A complete citation including author, title, and page numbers of the article; title of journal; and volume and issue numbers of the journal should be given to the Interlibrary Loan Office. Such material obtained from outside the University of Georgia Libraries should be picked up at (and in the case of books, returned to) the University of Georgia Interlibrary Loan Office.

When possible, Independent and Distance Learning students are encouraged to take advantage of the computer facilities and services available on the University of Georgia campus. Students are eligible during any semester in which they are enrolled for credit and for one semester following the last semester of enrollment for credit. Individuals may choose to pay the semester health fee at the beginning of the semester, which significantly reduces any additional cost for services provided, or they may choose to receive care on a fee-for-service basis only. Additional information regarding payment of fees, hours of service, and how to make an appointment may be obtained by calling (706) 542-1162 or by visiting the Health Center web site (http://www.uhs.uga.edu/).
