When I complete this program, will I be a Certified Meeting Planner?

To become a Certified Meeting Planner, you must apply to the Convention Industry Council and meet their standards for taking the CMP examination. However, you will receive information about this association and how to plan your meeting planning career to attain this professional designation.

I have been working for my company for several years and now I have been asked to plan and execute meetings. Since I have less than three years experience as a Meeting Planner, may I enroll in this program?

Yes, you may. Though designed for professionals with three or more years of experience, this course will provide you with tools you can use to succeed in your new role. You will learn industry-standard terminology, how to select the best location for your event, how to effectively negotiate contracts, and the best practices for event planning.

Does the CMMC certificate program offer job placement and/or an internship?

No. UGA's program doesn't have a job placement or internship component. However, the program does offer placement information, as well as how to use networking with fellow participants and instructors.

If I have a business conflict when one of the courses is scheduled, will I be able to complete the certificate requirements?

In order to earn your designation as a graduate of the CMMC program and earn a Certificate of Completion and University of Georgia Continuing Education Units, you must attend each of the four core courses and one elective course within the session you registered. If space is available for a course you missed in a future session, we will try to accommodate your participation in the following delivery of the CMMC program.
