Healthcare Management Certificate Program
This seven-module management training program is designed for healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and technologists, who have (or soon will have) supervisory or management responsibilities. The minimum requirement for participation is an associate's degree, or equivalent experience.
To earn your certificate, you must complete six of the seven modules. You will have up to 30 days to complete each module. Each module stands alone and may be taken in any sequence. As you successfully complete each module's assignments and online assessments, you will earn 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). And, upon your successful completion of six modules, you will earn a Certificate of Completion from Georgia LEADS-University System of Georgia and the University of Georgia, giving you 9.0 CEUs.
Please Note: Modules 101 - 106 are approved by the Georgia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Human Resource Development and Staff Relationships (HCM101) 1.5 CEUs
You will learn to identify and implement strategies conducive to building effective staff relations and positive work environments in the healthcare field.
Cultural Competency and Diversity Issues in Healthcare Management (HCM102) 1.5 CEUs
You will learn foundational skills to apply to multicultural relationships in your workplace. You will examine your personal culture and apply the knowledge in your role as a manager or supervisor who works with people of many cultures in a healthcare setting.
Leadership Skill Development for the First-time Supervisor (HCM103) 1.5 CEUs
You will learn about and will deepen your understanding of your individual leadership style. You will identify the characteristics of effective leaders and will develop personal goals and strategies for becoming a stronger, more effective leader of healthcare teams.
Management Ethics and Values Based Decision-Making (HCM104) 1.5 CEUs
You will explore the basic principles of ethics and the application of ethics in healthcare management. You will also explore how your personal ethics and values and those of your organization and employees affect your decision-making as a manager or supervisor.
Finances and Accounting for the Non-Accountant Manager (HCM105) 1.5 CEUs
You will understand the financial issues that make healthcare organizations unique. You will develop a basic understanding of accounting principles, terms, and methods used in financial accounting for healthcare organizations, including preparing and reading budgets.
Systems Thinking and the Management Team (HCM106) 1.5 CEUs
You will learn to lead a team in solving difficult and complex issues by seeing the "big picture" and understanding how various departments in the workplace interact as issues are identified and resolved. Group dynamics within organizations, inter- and intra-group conflict, and negotiation skills will be explored.
Project Management Fundamentals for Healthcare (HCM107) 1.5 CEUs
You will learn the basics of project management and experience hands-on application to a work-related project. Learn to maximize your time, money and personnel by using efficient techniques for managing projects in the healthcare environment.
