Technical Requirements

To participate in "Concepts of Clinical Pharmacokinetics," you need to have:
  • a Windows computer
  • a connection to the Internet
  • a personal e-mail account
  • a Javascript enabled web browser
Additionally, you will need the Macromedia Flash plug-in. Below you should see an animated version of the "Concepts of Clinical Pharmacokinetics" banner:

If you do not see revolving pills in the course banner above, then you need to download the Flash Player or an update to the player. Click on the icon below and to the right to visit the Macromedia Flash Player Download Web Site. Follow the instructions and the Flash Player will install itself without your having to quit your browser. Once the player is finished installing, it will take your browser to a test page to confirm that the plug-in is working properly.

Animated Examples

A unique benefit of "Concepts of Clinical Pharmacokinetics" is its use of multimedia.

Animations like the one below illustrate a concept without the student's intervention. Buttons for starting and repeating the animation allow you to repeat the content as many times as you wish.

Other animations in the course let you control a variable and see an outcome based on your action. You can "play" with the concept by adjusting values and viewing the results. The animation below lets you adjust the elimination coefficient of the kidney with respect to a particular drug.

More complex animations give you a broad range of potential choices that affect the outcome of a scenario.

Calculator-style animations let you enter values that may or may not be correct for the typical case study or scenario. With these tools, you are free to experiment with any values you choose.
