For whom is the course designed?
This Principles of Marketing Research course is designed primarily for people with some practical experience in marketing research who want to enhance their knowledge of the entire research process. For some, the course may function as a transition to a position of greater responsibility, while for those entering the profession the course provides a solid foundation. The course may also serve as a continuing education activity for more experienced practitioners.

Why should I complete the course?
As a graduate of the Principles of Marketing Research course, you will be recognized by industry associations, employers, peer groups, and other professionals as having a specific understanding of the concepts and practices that form the basis of marketing research.

What do I receive when I complete the course?
Graduates receive 20 continuing education units (
CEUs) from the University of Georgia and are awarded a Certificate of Completion from the Marketing Research Institute International, the Marketing Research Association, ESOMAR, and the University.

How long does it take to complete the course?
One year is allowed from the time that you register. Specific timing varies by student and has ranged from four to 18 months with the average being about 12 months. A six-month extension can be granted for a nominal fee ($50 US).

How much time will I need to devote to study?
Former students have reported spending about 20 study hours per module, or about a total of 200 hours for the 10 basic modules.

Can I enroll/purchase the modules separately?
In order to be a graduate of the Principles of Marketing Research course and earn your Certificate of Completion, the course must be taken in its entirety. This is an integrated program designed to teach the Marketing Research Core Body of Knowledge (MRCBOK©). We do not sell the modules separately.

Do I have to purchase the textbooks?
You must have the two required textbooks to complete the program. The online readings and tools are integrated with information within the textbooks. You do not have to buy the texts if you want to share them with other students, borrow from graduates of the course, or locate them in a library.

Where do I go to take the exams?
You will take the exams at a college, university, technical school, or other facility that is located at your convenience. You are responsible for identifying a local testing center and scheduling your exam with its staff. Schools differ in their practices, so you may have to pay a proctor fee to take the exams. Our staff will mail your exams directly to the testing center, along with instructions for administering the tests. If you have problems finding a testing center in your area or in scheduling your exams, you may contact the Georgia Center at +1-706.542-6692 for assistance.

How long do I have to take each examination and what grade is considered passing?
You have three hours to take each of the two multiple-choice examinations and you need to earn a grade of 70% or higher to pass each exam. Exam #1 covers course material from Modules 1-5 and Exam #2 covers material from Modules 6-10. If necessary, you may retake an exam for a fee of $30. Remember, Modules 11 and 12 are optional modules, and they are not included in the proctored examination!

Self-tests and end-of-chapter quizzes are included in the online course.

How long does it take to learn the results of each exam?
The examination results are graded the day they arrive in the mail and we make every attempt to e-mail your exam results to you on the day we score your completed exam!

Can I transfer my course registration to another student?
If you have not taken an exam yet and are within the first 12 months of your enrollment, you may transfer your course registration and materials to another student. This person will also have a maximum of 12 months to pass both exams. A course may be transferred only once for a fee of $99 (US).

What is the cancellation/refund policy for individual enrollments?
If for any reason you need to cancel or reschedule your training program, please contact
The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education. Simply notify the Certificate Programs Office within seven days of receipt of the Welcome e-notice (disclosure of the course URL and pass codes), and a refund will be granted.
