Keith Karnok Keith Karnok, professor of agronomy at The University of Georgia is the primary course author/editor of each of the Courses' Chapters, unless indicated otherwise below. Dr. Karnok has more than 30 years experience with both warm-and cool-season turfgrasses, has authored more than 250 publications in turfgrass management, and is a frequent speaker at regional, national, and international turfgrass seminars, workshops, and conferences. He is the recipient of many awards for his teaching, including the Meigs Award for Excellence in Teaching, UGA's highest teaching honor. He is a member of the International Turfgrass Society, American Society of Agronomy (Fellow), Crop Science Society of America (Fellow), American Association for the Advancement of Science (Fellow) and the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (Fellow). Fellow is the highest honor bestowed by a scientific or academic society. He is also a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Sports Turf Managers Association, and the Professional Landcare Association of America (PLANET). He is currently serving as president of the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture.

Gil W. Landry, Jr. Gil W. Landry, Jr. - Chapter 4, "Establishment"; Chapter 8, "Sports Turf Cultivation"; Chapter 13, "Sports Field Construction and Renovation"; Chapter 14, "Special Sports Field Management Practices"; Chapter 15, "Diagnosing Common Sports Turf Problems." Dr. Landry is professor of turfgrass management and coordinator for the Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture at the University of Georgia, is the author of more than 350 articles related to turfgrass science and is a regular presenter at national and state conferences. He has a B.S. in general agriculture, an M.S. in agronomy, and a Ph.D. in agronomy from Louisiana State University. For more than 24 years, Landry has been responsible for the development and implementation of statewide Extension Turfgrass Management educational programming for UGA. He is a member of the International Turfgrass Society, the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America, the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA; past president), the National Association of County Agricultural Agents, and the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology. Landry is a recipient of STMA's highest award - "The Harry C. Gill Memorial Award."

L.B. (Bert) McCarty L.B. (Bert) McCarty - Chapter 9, "Weeds." Dr. McCarty is a professor of horticulture specializing in turfgrass science and management at Clemson University. A native of Batesburg, SC, he received a B.S. in agronomy and soils from Clemson, an M.S. in crop science from North Carolina State University, and a Ph.D. in plant physiology and plant pathology from Clemson. McCarty spent 9 years as a turfgrass specialist at the University of Florida in Gainesville. While there, he oversaw the design and construction of "The Envirotron," a state-of-the-art research and education turfgrass facility. He also was author or coauthor of the books Best Management Practices for Florida Golf Courses, Weeds of Southern Turfgrasses, and Florida Lawn Handbook. In 1996, he moved to Clemson University. Involved in research, extension, and teaching activities, McCarty has published more than 300 articles dealing with all phases of turfgrass management and has given more than 700 presentations. He is currently coauthor of the books Color Atlas of Turfgrass Weeds, Best Golf Course Management Practices (first and second editions), Southern Lawns, Managing Bermudagrass Turf, Sod Production in the Southern United States, Fundamentals of Turfgrass and Agricultural Chemistry, and Designing and Maintaining Bermudagrass Sports Fields in the United States. McCarty is active in a number of professional societies; he is a coauthor for the seminars "Weed Control" and "Advanced Weed Management" for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. His research focuses on weed management, plant-growth regulator (PGR) use, and environmental stress physiology issues affecting turfgrass managers. He also teaches an "Advanced Turfgrass Management" course at Clemson.

Timothy R. Murphy Timothy R. Murphy - Chapter 9, "Weeds." Dr. Murphy, professor of weed science at the University of Georgia, conducts turfgrass weed science research and outreach education programs. He has authored or coauthored 2 books, 5 book chapters, 31 journal articles, 60 extension bulletins and circulars, and 70 popular articles in national or regional magazines and newsletters related to turfgrass weed science. Murphy completed his B.S. in agriculture at Berea College and his M.S. and Ph.D. at Clemson University. He also teaches the weed science portion of a turfgrass pest management course at UGA's Athens campus. Murphy is a member of the International Turfgrass Society, the Weed Science Society of America, the Southern Weed Science Society, and the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.
