How long does it take to complete the Sports Turfgrass Management Course?
Specific timing varies by student and has ranged from four to 18 months with the average being about 12 months. You have up to 12 months from your initial enrollment date to complete the course. A six-month extension can be granted for a nominal fee ($50).

How much time will I need to devote to study?
Students have said to allow 9 study hours per chapter, though this amount of time might vary student-to-student.

Can I enroll/purchase the chapters separately?
No, this is an integrated program designed to teach Sports Turfgrass Management. It must be taken in its entirety.

No, this is an integrated program designed to teach Sports Turfgrass Management.

Do I have to purchase additional textbooks?
No. The only book necessary to complete the course is the Sports Turfgrass Management Study Guide.

Where do I go to take the exams?
You will take the exams at a college, university, technical school, or other facility that is conveniently located to you. You are responsible for identifying a local testing center and scheduling your exam with its staff. Schools differ in their practices so you may have to pay a proctor fee to take the exams. Our staff will mail your exams directly to the testing center, along with instructions for administering them. If you have problems locating a testing center in your area or in scheduling your exams, you may contact the Georgia Center for assistance.

How long do I have to take each exam and what grade is considered passing?
You have to take two multiple-choice exams and you must make a grade of 70% or higher on each exam to pass. The first exam is two hours and covers the first eight chapters, and the second exam is two hours and covers the remaining eight chapters. If necessary, you may retake an exam for a fee of $30.

Is there a previous test available for review?
Yes, four practice review tests with an answer key have been included in the course notebook. There is also a set of review questions at the end of every chapter.

How long does it take to learn the results of the exam?
The exam results are graded the day they arrive in the mail and the results are immediately sent to you via mail or email, depending on your preference.

What kind of credit do I receive for completing the Sports Turfgrass Management Course?
You will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from the University of Georgia. When you graduate, you will also receive 14 Continuing Education Units (CEU), with a transcript available upon request at any time. STMA has determined that this course is worth 1 education point toward the Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM) credential, and 1.5 CEUs for anyone seeking to maintain their CSFM status.

Can I transfer my course registration to another student?
Yes, you may transfer your course enrollment and materials to another student if 1) you are within the first 12 months of your enrollment, and 2) you have not taken an exam yet. The new student will have a maximum of twelve months from the date of transfer to complete the course. A course may be transferred only once. The fee for transferring a course is $99.

What is the cancellation/refund policy for individual enrollments?
If for any reason you need to cancel or reschedule your training program, please contact The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education. Simply notify the Certificate Programs Office in writing within seven days of receipt of the Course materials and a full refund (minus the outgoing shipping fees) will be granted. The course materials are shipped by United Parcel Service (UPS).
