University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center &
Hotel (contact Registration, registration@georgiacenter.uga.edu, 706-542-3537 or

variety of ways, as defined in the following. See the course listings for details.
CEU - Continuing Education Unit
A CEU is the "... nationally recognized unit for measuring participation in noncredit continuing education ...," and one CEU is defined as "10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction" [as defined in the 2000 report Utilization of the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) within the University System of Georgia, University System of Georgia Board of Regents].
CPE - Continuing Professional Education Credit
CPE credit is awarded to CPAs (Certified Public Accountants) and is calculated
as 50 minutes=1 CPE.
PLU - Professional Learning Unit
A PLU is "one unit of credit based on 10 contact hours of formal instruction
or its equivalent (preparation phase) and on verification that the intent of the
formal instruction has been implemented on the job (on-the-job performance
phase) or on mastery verification conducted during the preparation phase," as administered by the Georgia Department of Education (Staff Development
Services). For more information about PLU requirements, visit the Web site
of the Georgia Department of Education.
Real Estate Appraiser Hour
As defined by the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board/Georgia Real Estate
Commission (GREAB/GREC; Real Estate Appraiser Classification Act &
Rules and Regulations), approved courses "should introduce students to the
language of the profession and basic theory underlying the duties and
responsibilities of a real estate appraiser." Additionally, the courses should "require practice in the skills being taught." The Board defines a classroom
hour as "50 minutes out of each 60-minute segment," for a total not to
exceed "7.5 hours per day of classroom instruction and testing." For more
information, visit the GREAB Web site.
