This 40-hour course presents a practical modern-grammar and communicative approach to teaching English as a second or additional language in an English-speaking country or as a foreign language in another country. The focus is on developing curriculum and lessons for teaching written and spoken English for formal and informal communication in the workplace, the community, and the school.
We will explore the traditional and contemporary approaches to language teaching. The class will practice developing programs, courses, and lessons, and will perform teaching activities. In addition, we examine content-based language learning, computer-assisted learning, and online delivery component for teaching and learning.
This course, which requires the student to purchase a textbook, can be taken as an individual study or as one of the four modules of the Global TESOL Certificate Program.
