Veteran Photographer
Shares Spark With Students
Jim Morgenthaler has been teaching photography for 35 years and has
been involved with digital photography for the last 20 years. He bought
his first Nikon when stationed in Korea in the Air Force. Exploring
Korea and Japan with that camera sparked the interest in photography
that continues to this day.
Jim has been teaching for the Professional and Personal Development
program at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education in the seven
years since his retirement from the University of Georgia. During his
worklife at UGA, Jim produced educational video, film, computer graphics
and still photography. Jim regularly teaches "Fundamentals of
Photography," "Taking Better Pictures," "Basic Digital Photography" and
"Photoshop" and he has been instrumental in leading the way in
developing the Photography Certificate Program.
When teaching adults at the Georgia Center, Jim illustrates his
instructions with hundreds of his own photographs. He encourages
classroom participation from his students and provides many pages of
valuable informational notes and handouts. Jim has produced a three-disc
set of video tutorials that are available for purchase. The
accompanying shots are from a recent trip to Greece and the islands of
Santorini and Mykonos.
