The GameWerks experience starts here! Learn all about the video game industry, and work with your team to construct a game idea you'll pitch to real video game professionals. You will evaluate video games, conduct research on different types of software, hardware and development tools, and get guidance and feedback on your ideas from experts in the field. You'll leave with some serious 21st century skills to help you at school, home, and other areas of your life that involve critical thinking, confidence, and teamwork. Note: No computer programming is taught in this course. Open to students ages 11-17.

Day and Overnight Camp Options Available
8:30am-5:30pm
Students are dropped off each day at the Georgia Center, but camp takes place in Aderhold Hall. Students will travel around campus by foot or bus, and possibly university vehicles. More detailed information will available closer to the camp start date.
Day Camp - $400
Overnight Camp - $800

Mark Evans is a managing partner in MoWerks Learning, an Athens-based learning and technology company. He has a Master's of Social Science and Education from North Georgia and an EDS from the University of Georgia. Mark has fifteen years’ experience in education, and has written several articles and presented at many different conferences on the uses of video games in the classroom and with pre-service teachers. When Mark is not working at MoWerks, he can be found either playing multiplayer video games with his friends and family on Xbox Live under his gamer tag docevans007 or running half marathons. He also participated in a reality TV show called Heavy, which aired on A&E on March 21, 2011. This will be his fourth year as a Summer Academy instructor.
Lucas Jensen is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Learning, Design and Technology. He holds a Master's in Education in Instructional Design and Development and a Master's in Education in Social Science Education, both from the University of Georgia. He is an avid video gamer, and plays drums for several popular Athens bands. This is his fifth year as a Summer Academy instructor.
B.C. Fortenberry is an audio engineer living in Athens, GA, celebrating his second year with GameWerks. Bill holds degrees from Athens State University in Athens, AL as well as the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tucson, AZ. The consummate Renaissance man, Bill has worked in social work, high end professional audio gear, and recorded some of Athens' finest musicians. A lifelong gamer, he enjoys helping students explore their creative side, audio or otherwise. This is Bill’s second year as a Summer Academy instructor.
