Enriching the Lives of Gifted Students
UGA-Duke TIP Academic Adventures provide opportunities for academically talented 5th and 6th grade students to take enriching and challenging courses. The program introduces topics that are generally not available in students' local schools. The experience provides enrichment, sharpens skills, and provides an opportunity for students to interact with similarly motivated peers. Academic Adventures is open to all 5th and 6th grade students who have participated in Duke TIP's 4th/5th Grade Talent Search.
Program Basics
- Open to all 5th and 6th graders who have participated in Duke TIP's 4th/5th Grade Talent Search. (Note: this means you MUST have a Duke TIP number to participate)
- Academic Adventures participants meet on campus and at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel for one day of intensive academic study.
- Students enroll in one course to explore material typically not included in school curricula.
- The fee is $140, though some courses have additional costs. The registration fee covers meals and academic activities. T-shirts are available for an extra $15. If you register for the December program by November 11, you will receive an early bird registration discount of $25!
Schedule
Students and parents check in on Saturday between 9:00-9:30am at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. At 10:00am, students will be escorted to their classes on the UGA campus. Students will return to the Georgia Center at 4:00pm, where they will meet their parents for a brief parent session and reception from 4-4:30pm.
