Athens, GA - Would you be able to tell if a family heirloom was worth thousands of dollars? Learn how to determine trash from treasure with the Personal Property Appraisal Certificate Program from the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education. The first course in the four-course series, Introduction to Personal Property Valuation, will be held Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 7-10, 2006 at the Georgia Center, 1197 S. Lumpkin St., in Athens, Ga.
The Personal Property Appraisal program is intended for art dealers, estate liquidators, insurance adjusters, personal property appraising professionals, and anyone interested in a career in personal property appraising. This certificate program is highly respected and offered at only select universities around the country. Participants will learn about the appreciation, history, and valuation of fine arts and antiques. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for eventual membership in American Society of Appraisers.
The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course, a 15-hour, two-day program for personal properties valuators seeking or needing to demonstrate tested knowledge of the "Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice" document promulgated by the Appraisal Standards Board of the Appraisal Foundation, will be held Monday through Tuesday, September 11-12, 2006, at the Georgia Center as well. This course includes a discussion of case studies and concludes with a one-hour exam. The USPAP course is optional to participants in the Personal Property Appraisal Certificate Program.
