PERSONAL PROPERTY VALUATION - REPORT WRITING COURSE BEGINS IN MARCH |
Athens, GA - The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel and The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) will offer Personal Property Valuation - Report Writing. The Personal Property Valuation course will be held Thurs., March 16 through Sun., March 19, 2006, at Georgia Gwinnett College, located at 1000 University Center Lane, Lawrenceville, Ga. This is the third course in a four-course series. The courses must be taken in sequence.
The course will be held 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., and the exam will be offered March 19, 2006, from 9 a.m. - noon. Course participants will earn 2.8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
The Personal Property Valuation series teaches the skills necessary to research primary and secondary resources that are required for identification and market analysis of fine arts and antiques. Topics discussed include:
* The components of a written appraisal report
* Appraisal report standards
* Communication and writing skills
* The development of an appraisal narrative
* Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requirements for donation appraisals, as well as insurance, damage, and loss appraisals
The course is taught by Margaret Olsen, a member of The American Society of Appraisers. She is a accredited senior appraiser. Olsen is the president of Westminster Coin, Jewelry, & Appraisal Ltd., and she specializes in coins, jewelry, diamonds, currency, gold, silver, platinum and sports memorabilia.
The American Society of Appraisers, an organization of appraisal professionals and others interested in the appraisal profession, is committed to fostering professional excellence in its membership through education, accreditation, publications, and other services. ASA is the oldest (originated, 1936; incorporated, 1952) and only major appraisal organization representing all of the disciplines of appraisal specialists. ASA is a founding member of the Appraisal Foundation, a national nonprofit organization created to establish uniform criteria for professional appraisers.
