START DATE CHANGED FOR SCREENWRITING COURSE
COURSE INSTRUCTOR'S FILM ACCEPTED AT 2006 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL |
Athens, GA - The Department of Professional and Personal Development of the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel will offer Introduction to Screenwriting, Tuesdays, Jan. 31-Mar. 7, 2006, at the Georgia Center, 1197 S. Lumpkin St., Athens, Ga. These course dates are effective immediately, and replace the former start date of Tues., Jan. 24, 2006. The instructor for this course is Henry "Hadjii" Hand. His film, "Somebodies," was recently accepted into the Dramatic Competition at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
This course is designed to support those interested in screenwriting by exploring story-structure, character development, dialogue, short film, sketches, and feature-length film through lectures and workshops that will simulate a real work environment.
"We are very fortunate to have Mr. Hand teach this class," said Carolyn Hatfield of the Department of Personal and Professional Development at the Georgia Center. "His film has received national media coverage in USA Today and two positive reviews from film critic Roger Ebert. This is a great opportunity for people interested in screenwriting to learn from Mr. Hand, especially since he has received such positive acclaim from his showing at the Sundance Film Festival." Hand is also an instructor at the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
The cost of the course is $89. Classes will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
