|
Athens, GA - The University of Georgia (UGA) Center for Continuing Education and the student service organization Students for Latino Empowerment (SLE) is sponsoring Sigueme: Latino Shadow Day at UGA on Friday, November 17, 2006.
This one-day activity will bring qualified high-school juniors and seniors from the Gainesville City Schools/Hall County School System and the Clarke County School District to the University of Georgia campus to shadow a Latino/a UGA student.
The program includes speakers and entertainment as well as lunch in the award-winning university dining hall, Snelling Dining Commons. The morning will start with an information session on admissions and applications for scholarships given by Milly Legra of the UGA Admissions Office and Kelly Harper of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The day will carry out with tours of campus, residence halls and a variety of classes.
The project is a part of a series of events funded by the Steps to College Youth Recruitment funds received from the UGA Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. UGA students Meggie Monette and Ben Medina are co-coordinating the activity.
