Conference & meeting planners industry experiencing rapid growth; Georgia Center offers Conference & Meeting Management Certificate Program in February
|
Athens, GA - (Dec. 4, 2007) - The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education will offer the Conference and Meeting Management Certificate Program (CMMC) Saturdays, Feb. 23-April 12, 2008 at The University of Georgia Gwinnett Campus in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Register by Feb. 3, 2008 and receive a discount on the registration fee. The CMMC program is intended for meeting planners, event planners, conference coordinators, training and development managers, and more. According to the United States Department of Labor, the meeting and convention planners industry is expected to rapidly grow faster than average in employment "due to growth of business, the increasing globalization of the economy, and increasing use of electronic forms of communication to bring people together." It is important to receive the most up-to-date training for this growing industry.
The CMMC program will provide participants with the meeting planning knowledge to apply immediately to practice; the opportunity to network with some of the top national players in this industry; and the ability to apply the state-of-the-art budgeting and technology knowledge essential to running a profitable meeting. The CMMC Program is endorsed by the Georgia Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (GaMPI).
Successful CMMC graduates will:
- Expand your knowledge of event planning and how to apply what's learned to your actual practice.
- Gain specific instruction in event planning and execution under the guidance of some of the industry's top professionals and instructors
- Network and make invaluable contacts with other well-established professionals
- Learn about state-of-the-art information technology and how to apply it in the workplace
- Earn a "Certificate of Completion" and receive valuable University of Georgia Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
To participate in the Conference and Meeting Management Certificate Program (CMMC), you must have accumulated a minimum of three years of professional experience in conference and meeting management or a related field.
The CMMC program has expanded the curriculum to offer two advanced courses for the experienced meeting/event planner who has been in the industry a minimum of five years: Project Management for Meeting Planners and Event Marketing. These courses begin in Spring 2008; go to www.georgiacenter.uga.edu/is/cmmc/advanced_courses for additional details.
