GEORGIA CENTER TO OFFER SPANISH/ENGLISH MEDICAL INTERPRETER CERTIFICATE COURSE

Athens, GA - (Jan. 29, 2007) - The Department of Certificate Programs at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel will offer the Spanish/English Medical Interpreter Certificate Course, Saturdays, April 21 - May 19, 2007, at The University of Georgia Gwinnett Campus, 1000 University Lane, in Lawrenceville, Ga.
The Spanish/English Medical Interpreter Certificate Program is designed
for anyone whose current or future job responsibilities include
translating for Spanish-speaking people, and is only for those who are
bilingual or nearly bilingual in Spanish and English and are interested
in becoming medical interpreters or in further developing their skills
and professionalism.
This 30-hour program provides participants with the theoretical, procedural, and linguistic backgrounds necessary for complying with the Medical Interpreting Standards of Practice. This program is dedicated to the continual professional growth and assessment in this fast-growing field. Successful completion will include a pre-test, mid-course assessment and end-of course oral and written examinations measuring participants' skills and strategies as an effective and efficient interpreter. Upon successful attendance of the five sessions and the course assignments, participants will earn a Certificate of Completion and 3.0 University of Georgia Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
