Rose of Athens Theatre's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" at Georgia Center in October
|
Athens, GA - (September 13, 2007) - Rose of Athens Theatre begins their 2007/2008 season with a wild ride through a ghoulish night, with a spooky American classic. "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," adapted by Katherine Schultz-Miller and directed by Lisa Cesnik, will take place at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel, Mahler Auditorium, 1197 South Lumpkin Street on October 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20 at 7:30pm and October 14 and 21 at 5:30pm. Washington Irving's spooky tale of Ichabod Crane and the headless horseman will be brought to life with fantastical costumes, and enchanting music and movement. This production is great for all ages.
This production will feature the performances of Lisa Mende, Joelle Re Arp Dunham, Allen Rowell, Ben Reed, Maria Moody, and Athens musician Christopher Henderson. Mende (Seinfeld, Friends, Hollywood Shuffle, Scrooged) will mark her one-year anniversary with Rose of Athens Theatre with this production. Mende is a full time core member of Rose of Athens Theatre, a professional theatre incorporated in August 2006. Other dynamic core members performing in the production are Joelle Re Arp Dunham (Nickelodeon), Ben Reed (A Midsummer Night's Dream and Classics Aloud!) and Maria Moody (A Midsummer Night's Dream and Classics Aloud!). In addition, the charming and comic Allen Rowell will be performing the role of Ichabod Crane. Local musician and composer Christopher Henderson will perform live music, underscoring the production with guitar, banjo, dobro and even saw! Jeff Allen from Studio Creations will collaborate with Jennie Alvernaz on costumes for the production.
As is often the case, Rose of Athens Theatre features a small, diverse cast of players who do delightful credit to multiple roles and breathe refreshingly goofy and unexpected life into this popular Halloween tale.
