Georgia Center to offer "Spanish/English Legal Interpreter Certificate Program"
Athens, GA - (April 16, 2008) - The Department of Professional and Personal Development at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel will offer the "Spanish/English Legal Interpreter Certificate Program", Saturdays, June 14, 21 and 28, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., at The University of Georgia Gwinnett Campus, 2530 Sever Road, in Lawrenceville, Ga.

The "Spanish/English Legal Interpreter Certificate Program" is designed for people who are bilingual in Spanish and English and interested in becoming legal interpreters or in further developing their skills and professionalism.

This 20-hour, three-Saturday program is a prep course which provides you with the skills necessary to pass the State test. Upon your successful attendance of the sessions and the completion of course assignments, you will earn a Certificate of Completion and 2.0 University of Georgia Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Who Should Attend?
  • Interpreters currently employed by attorney, legal counsel, or courts
  • Independent certified interpreters (with no court experience) seeking continuing education
  • Bilingual individuals seeking employment with the legal system
