Steps to College Statewide Writing Contest

The University of Georgia Steps to College Statewide Writing Contest encourages all Georgia high-school students to consider a different topic each year and to explore specific issues that affect the state's Latino people and communities.

A panel of judges selects one winning essay and one runner-up from each of six regions within the state. Each winner is invited to bring a parent or guardian to the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel on the University of Georgia campus in Athens for a two-day event that includes an awards celebration, campus tour, discussions of the topic, dining and fun activities.

The contest is sponsored by the Georgia Center and the University of Georgia Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach.

This program has been discontinued. For information about past Steps to College Statewide Writing Contests, contact Christine Burgoyne at latino@georgiacenter.uga.edu.
