Africans and Globalization: Contents and Disontents  

The second annual international conference on Africa and its diaspora will be hosted by the African studies Institute at the University of Georgia November 13-15, 2013, at the Georgia Center's UGA Hotel and Conference Center. It is hoped that this second conference will, once again, offer a forum for intensive exchanges between scholars, researchers, and other professionals working in Africa, the African diaspora, the United States, and other parts of the globe.

  • Regular: $75 (for participants residing in Africa)
  • Students: $40
  • Friday Banquet: $20

The Lioba Moshi Award for Service to African Studies Will be Awarded During the Banquet.

Event Cancellation Policies
(1) A cancellation received by 5:00 p.m. ET on or before November 6, 2013 will be refunded, minus a $40 processing fee. No refunds will be issued thereafter; substitutions will be allowed.
(2) To change or cancel hour registration call 800-884-1381, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
(3) If an event is cancelled for any reason, the UGA Hotel and Conference Center will not be responsible for any charges related to travel.

Hotel Costs: 

A block of rooms has been reserved for you and will be held, as long as they are still available, until Oct. 12, 2013. Please make your reservation early!

Individuals who do not have a credit card and would like to register for the conference and a hotel room must call 1-800-884-1381 between 8am-5pm EST and provide registration with the block code (#82945). These individuals should also contact:
