More than 30 million children participate in sports in the United States, and every year over 3.5 million receive medical treatment for a variety of sports-related injuries and conditions. The most common sports-related conditions are sprains, muscle strains, cartilage and ligament injuries, repetitive motion injuries, and sports concussions.
Young athletes present unique challenges to physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers due to the repetitive and high strain they put on their bodies during what is now a year round schedule of sporting activities. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is important to prevent long-term deformity, disability and chronic conditions. This conference will explore a variety of topics that address the management of these critical health concerns.
