In this dynamic week-long experience, discover the magic behind 2D animation—a medium that allows artists to create professional-quality work using increasingly affordable and accessible digital tools. Immerse yourself in the fundamental principles of animation, mastering the art of storyboarding and crafting clear narratives through real industry techniques and methods in 2D animation.
Created in conjunction with faculty from the Department of Theatre and Film, this camp explores the techniques and approaches used by professional animators to create beloved animated shows like Bob’s Burgers and Adventure Time. From traditional hand-drawn methods to seemingly magical rotoscoping, you’ll discover new storytelling possibilities. Learn to storyboard and develop a concise story using different styles of 2D animation, turning your ideas into reality.
This summer, dive deep into frame-by-frame animation, character design, professional production workflows, and digital storytelling. Bring your best ideas to this day-only camp and leave with a professional animated short that showcases your skills.
