Georgia Junior Science and Humanities Symposium
The Junior Science & Humanities Symposium is a program in which high school students present original scientific research orally in front of judges and observers. Every year, more than 10,000 students from secondary schools in 50 states, Puerto Rico, and schools of Europe and the Pacific, in cooperation with the Department of Defense, participate in the Regional Symposia administered by universities.

Fifty (50) Georgia students are selected annually by science professionals to present their work in front of judges at the Georgia regional competition in Athens. Fifty additional students are invited to participate as observers and to present their science projects in poster form. Students are selected for competition based on submitted paperwork.

Teachers from Georgia are also selected to attend as chaperone/sponsors based on applications submitted. All expenses for hotel and meals (except one dinner) are covered for the participants, funded by the GJSHS Grant provided by the Research Programs of the Armed Forces of the United States.

Symposium Features:

• Presentations of original research papers by high school students (8th graders may participate in poster presentations only)
• Student poster session, including 8th graders
• Laboratory visits and tours when scheduled
• Presentations by guest speakers
• Opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with others interested in the sciences
