Every day, 24-hours a day, 911 Dispatchers are faced with the difficult task of communicating with monolingual Spanish speakers over the phone. It is hard enough to handle a 911 crisis when the caller speaks English. But when emergency calls are mishandled due to a language barrier the results can be tragic. This course features Spanish phrases plus "Alert Words" designed to help dispatchers handle job-specific situations including gathering location information, comprehending the nature of the emergency, and much more.

To receive a certificate, you must complete the following: Spend 15 hours online (the program automatically tracks your time) and complete the online course assessments.

**This course is not appropriate for minors. Some subject matter and Alert Words include translations of vulgar language intended only for state and local public safety professions. For complete course details, please visit the Language Authority web site.
