Multimedia Programming for Robotics Experience at UGA

This is a 2-day Advanced Programming opportunity for students who had previously received robotics training via the "Weekend Robotics Experience" (WRE) short course or the SAUGA Summer Camp on "Introductory Robotics". We will use the robotics kits that the students may already possess, either ROBOTIS' PLAY700 or DREAM systems. The students should also bring a Smart Phone or Tablet (iOS or Android-preferred) to use in class.

On the first day, the students will be trained on interface programming techniques with the robot running a TASK code and the R+m.PLAY700 App running on the mobile device. Application topics include: Text and Graphics Display, Remote Control using Touch Areas, Text-to-Speech, Speech Recognition, Audio and Video Output, Video Camera used for Color Line Detection and Intruder Alert.

On the second day, the students will take on the interfacing techniques between the SCRATCH 2 IDE running on a PC and the robot's actuators and sensors. Application topics include: SCRATCH Programming Basics, Text & Graphics Display, Audio Output, Remote Control via Keyboard, Interfacing Issues with Actuators and Sensors on robot, Event Programming using Broadcast Messaging.
