Comparative Anatomy

Students will dissect representative animals to deeply understand not only how animals in the animal kingdom are similar, but also how an animal’s body is similar to a human's. Students will not only get an overview of human anatomy but discover evidences that depict how all organisms can be related.

Course Learning Objectives/Goals

  • Students will be able to observe and compare the anatomy of different animals in the animal kingdom through dissections and viewing of displays.
  • Students will be able to dissect at least two animals and compare their anatomies in a class presentation…..then ultimately compare those to the human body.
  • Students will also be made aware of the resources and careers in Athens that allow students to further deepen their understanding of comparative anatomy.
