Students will dissect representative animals to deeply understand not only how animals in the animal kingdom are similar, but also how an animal’s body is similar to a human's. Students will not only get an overview of human anatomy but discover evidences that depict how all organisms can be related.
Course Learning Objectives/Goals
- Students will be able to observe and compare the anatomy of different animals in the animal kingdom through dissections and viewing of displays.
- Students will be able to dissect at least two animals and compare their anatomies in a class presentation…..then ultimately compare those to the human body.
- Students will also be made aware of the resources and careers in Athens that allow students to further deepen their understanding of comparative anatomy.

My name is Jackie Elder and I am a high school science teacher in the Clarke County School District. I enjoy young people a great deal and would like to continue to inspire and help them to be the best that they can be. I love science and enjoy sharing my love for science with students.I majored in biology as an undergraduate and later obtained a Master's degree in Science Education.
