Students will fall in love with Spanish as they immerse themselves into basic Spanish through listening to stories, singing, role-playing, reading and writing, discovering culture, poetry, and even make their own piñata!
Course Learning Objectives/Goals
- Explore language to introduce self and describe likes and dislikes at a basic level.
- Understand some cultural differences between the American and Latin American cultures.
- Practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish.
- Create a piñata and understand the culture behind them.

Prerequisites:
This course is designed for beginners with little or no knowledge of Spanish.
Laura Alvarez graduated from UGA double majoring in Music Therapy and Spanish. She received her teacher certification from GSU and a Master of Arts in Teaching from New Mexico State University. Her passion for language and music has led her to teach for more than twenty years to K -12 students in ESOL, Spanish, and piano. She presently lives in McDonough where she teaches full time at the high school level. Mrs. Alvarez is a native speaker from Mexico who understands the needs of new learners.
