Learning Outcomes:
- Learn legal terminology, ethics, and the foundations of the litigation process
- Determine the rules of evidence and the process for civil procedure
- Adopt basic interviewing and investigation techniques while learning how to develop the use of demonstrative evidence
- Prepare discovery matter, such as Interrogatories, Requests for Admissions, and Requests for Production of Documents.
- Learn how to identify and research relevant law
- Develop research skills and techniques for use in legal memoranda, motions, and briefs
- Critique and prepare legal documents

- Current paralegals wanting to increase their office’s efficiency, productivity, and billable hours as well as learn new marketable job skills
Continuing Education Information
A Certificate of Program Completion for 9.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon successfully completing the course.
This is an accelerated course. You will be expected to spend an average of 8-12 hours per week reading and completing assignments. Please note that extensions will not be granted for this online course. 70% is the minimum passing score on all tests and assignments for this course.

Instructors
Classroom Course:
Gail Stowers received a Bachelors of Science in Social Work from the University of Georgia and attended paralegal school in Raleigh, North Carolina. Stowers worked as a litigation paralegal with the law firm of Beaver, Holt and Richardson, and later attended Webster University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she received a dual Masters degree in Management and in Human Resources.
Stowers has been employed with the State Personnel Administration in the Legal Services Division as a Human Resources Project Manager and Employee Relations Specialist for more than 10 years. Some of her responsibilities include legal research, program management of the statewide alternative dispute resolution program, ADA Compliance manager and consultant to managers, employees and non-state entities. She also participates in some legislative and diversity management activities.
Online and Online Flex Course:
This program is coordinated by our educational partner, CLS by BARBRI, one of America’s most respected legal education training centers. They have offered legal programs nationally since 1980. These courses are taught by experienced legal and educational professionals selected by CLS.
