Who should attend?
Anyone working in human resources or who has duties related to human resources seeking a broad understanding of the field. You might be new to human resources — with less than two years’ experience. Or, you might be a seasoned professional desiring refreshment or an opportunity to update your knowledge on this topic. Either way, you might be, looking to become SHRM® certified. Led by a SHRM®-certified instructor, this course combines the SHRM Learning System with expert teaching to facilitate a comprehensive and detailed review of the current SHRM BASK™.
Continuing Education Information
Spring and Fall Courses
The Human Resources Management Certificate course assumes a basic familiarity with the general duties within human resources. You can expect to spend 7-12 hours per week outside of class sessions on the course assignments which include readings, quizzes, and discussion questions. Both the classroom and live-online courses require at least 80% attendance and earn 80% or above on graded assignments to earn the UGA Certificate of Program Completion.
Successful graduates of the course will receive 4.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) (Opens in a new window) from the University of Georgia and a printed certificate mailed to you. Additionally, you will earn the SHRM® Certificate of Achievement, which can be printed.
Summer Course
The Human Resources Management Certificate course assumes a basic familiarity with the general duties within human resources. Once you receive access to the materials (approximately 30 days before the start date), you should plan to spend 7-12 hours per week on the course assignments which include readings and quizzes. Since this is a three-day intensive course, attendance each day is required and an 80% or above on graded assignments is needed to earn the UGA Certificate of Program Completion.
Successful graduates of the course will receive 2.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) (Opens in a new window) from the University of Georgia and a digital certificate will be emailed to you.

Military funding information
The classroom course has been approved by the Department of Veterans Services to receive GI Bill® funding (Opens in a new window). Cancellation or refund
If the online SHRM Learning System is accessed or any print materials are shipped, you will be charged a 50% cancellation fee.

No. There are no prerequisites for enrolling in Human Resources Management; the course content assumes a basic familiarity with the general duties within human resources.

Instructors
Charles Craig
As a SHRM-CP/SCP exam preparation instructor for the University of Georgia, Charles Craig brings to the classroom over twenty-seven years of real-world human resource experience and years of experience instructing Human Resources Management preparation classes. His human resources certifications include SHRM’s Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and the Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR). Charles earned his MBA from Brenau University.
Charles is a member of SHRM’s Advocacy Team and a member of the SHRM Atlanta Chapter. He has over fifteen years of experience as a certification instructor for HRCI’s PHR/SPHR and SHRM’s CP/SCP exam preparation classes. As one of SHRM’s original situational judgment question writers for the SHRM-CP/SCP learning system, Charles brings a unique perspective and insight to exam preparation. He previously instructed the learning system class for the University of North Georgia, Emory University, DeKalb County, SHRM Atlanta, and The Chick-fil-a Corporation.
Kim Nash
After a 30-year career in human resources, she founded her company, THriv, to accompany leaders on their professional growth journey to achieve successful results. She serves leaders through coaching, teaching, and public speaking. Kim partners with organizations to provide a variety of business consulting, training & development, compliance management, and human resource related services. Additionally, she delivers a variety of presentations for organizations. Kim also serves as a part-time instructor for various universities teaching the SHRM HR Essentials and Professional Human Resource Management courses for human resource professionals. Kim holds the SHRM-SCP certification through the Society of Human Resource Management, the SPHR certification through HR Certification Institute, the Compensation Management Specialist designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefits and has completed the John C. Maxwell Certification Program to teach, coach, train, and speak. Kim is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and a Past President of the Human Resource Professionals of Central PA. She is a graduate of York College of PA with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Education, and holds an MBA/Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix.
