Continuing Education Information

Students successfully completing all assignments earn 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from The University of Georgia, with a transcript available upon request. Graduates also receive a Digital Certificate of Program Completion.

Fees & funding information

NALP, GCSAA, SFMA, PGA South Africa Members, US Military* – $389

Professional organization discounts are available exclusively to regular members and do not extend to student members or local chapters.

*To receive the military discount, you must be

  • currently serving in, or retired from, a qualifying branch of the Armed Services and have a valid military ID Card.
  • a veteran who receives VA benefits and has a valid Veteran Identification Card (VIC).
  • a veteran who served honorably and who presents a valid Form DD214 or other proof of service.

Non-Members – $419

Additional Fees:
Students who select the online version of the course may opt to purchase the print-based text book for an additional fee ($90 for U.S. or $245 for International – includes shipping and handling).

Students who select the print-based version of the course and who live internationally must pay an additional $245 for shipping and handling fees.

If a student is unable to complete the course within the twelve months allotted time, he/she may file for a six-month extension (Opens in a new window) for a fee of $50.

Cancellation or refund

(Print) We will issue a refund, minus a $75 processing fee, for cancellations made within thirty (30) days of registration, once your course materials are returned. All cancellation and refund requests must be sent via email to gc-student@uga.edu or by telephone at 706-542-3537.

(Online) We will issue a refund, minus a $75 processing fee, if you have not accessed the online course. All cancellation and refund requests must be sent via email to gc-student@uga.edu no later than seven (7) days after your course access information is issued.

Textbook

Students who register for the Print-Based course receive our renowned textbook, written and updated by master Turfgrass expert Dr. Keith Karnok. For more immediate access to course materials, consider registering for the online course and purchasing the printed text for an additional fee.

People & organizations

Author

Keith Karnok, retired professor of agronomy at The University of Georgia is the course author. Dr. Karnok has more than 40 years experience with both warm- and cool-season turfgrasses, has authored more than 250 publications in turfgrass management, and is a frequent speaker at regional, national, and international turfgrass seminars, workshops, and conferences. He is the recipient of many awards for his teaching, including the Meigs Award for Excellence in Teaching, UGA’s highest teaching honor. He is a member of the International Turfgrass Society, American Society of Agronomy (Fellow), Crop Science Society of America (Fellow), American Association for the Advancement of Science (Fellow) and the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (Fellow).
