About this camp
Ready to trade the traditional stage for the planet? Your art can drive real change! Step into this immersive, boundary-breaking theater experience that takes your performance outdoors. Led by expert Asia Meana, you will combine principles like “Superhero Clubhouse” with collaborative devising techniques to create original theater that truly matters. Instead of memorizing lines from old scripts, you will engage deeply with critical local environmental issues and build your own unique performance piece entirely from scratch, utilizing both indoor studios and campus outdoor spaces.
Together, we will explore key concepts, including:
- Climate & Justice: Learn how to center environmental justice in your storytelling.
- Devising: Master advanced collaborative creation techniques to build a narrative together.
- Process over Product: You’ll prioritize deep learning and artistic experimentation rather than the pressure of a polished final spectacle.
The week culminates with either a community performance, ensuring you leave with a powerful new understanding of how your theater can change the world.
