As an intern here, you’ll learn about DNA, x-rays, human anatomy, personal health and more – all while having fun. You’ll learn a lot about different healthcare fields and the many kinds of providers. So put on some scrubs and let’s see what you’re made of! This is one of our most popular camps, so early registration is strongly recommended.
None. This course is designed for students with little to no background in medicine or life sciences. If you have an older student with a strong science background, please consider requesting a waiver to attend Mini Medical School 2: Beyond the Basics.
Dr. Rick Waters has an M.D. in Dentistry from The Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. He has taught all levels of healthcare education, from Associate Degree students up to Doctoral students. He works as a freelance instructional designer for the healthcare industry and has provided a variety of multimedia materials to medical and dental organizations nationwide. Dr. Waters is the founder and creator of Summer Academy's Mini Medical School program and this will be his fifteenth year as a Summer Academy instructor.
Anvitha Kaguturu is entering her fourth year as an undergraduate student studying Biological Science at the University of Georgia. She is also minoring in Global Health and Biology while working toward an MPH degree with an emphasis in Epidemiology. She has experience in tutoring Math and Science at all grade levels. This is Anvitha’s first year as a Summer Academy instructor.
